The Department of Internal Medicine I of the University Hospital of Cologne is seeking applications for a full-time position as a

Postdoctoral researcher (f/m)

to be employed immediately under a limited-time contract (third-party funding, 36 month).

The research of Dr. Herter-Sprie focuses on preclinical multimodality immuno-oncology approaches to fuel rapid translation into clinical trials for patient-tailored cancer treatment. We employ a variety of in vitro and in vivo assays to assess immune functions of CD4+ and CD8+ cells in murine lung cancers in response to targeted anti-cancer drugs and radiation. Our area of expertise offers a unique spectrum of methodology in a key area of adaptive immunity that has received tremendous clinical attention over the last years. Future projects of the lab include collaboration with our partners in the clinical departments to actively translate our discoveries into clinical application. 

We are seeking for a highly motivated postdoc with a focus on the in vivo assessment of drug combinations and the functional characterization of drug synergy for the treatment of lung cancer.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Functional T cell assays - in vitro and in vivo
• FACS analysis of freshly isolated murine tumor and tumor-associated immune cells
• Immunohistochemical staining of tumor bearing organs and tissues
• CT and MRT imaging, small animal irradiation, preclinical trial conduct

Minimum qualifications:

• MD or PhD in molecular biology or equivalent
• Experience in molecular biology, in vivo mouse models (FELASA certification is a plus), flowcytometry, immunohistochemistry and cell culture
