PURPOSE & OBJECTIVES

As a Communications Working Student (f/m/d) at the Machine Learning Research team in Berlin, you will be working closely with our researchers and students as well as communication colleagues in order to increase the awareness for our research, you’ll be the creative storyteller of the team. You’ll be responsible for writing, editing and commissioning stories on our Research blog, as well as generating different types of content for various internal and external communications channels.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Your specific tasks include:

• Managing the editorial plan for the blog, which involves: close collaboration with the ML research team to identify new stories ideas; building an editorial calendar, scheduling articles and coordinating with writers to ensure a consistent content flow on the blog; building and managing a roster of internal and external writers; editing and polishing submissions; developing and maintaining a consistent voice and style that caters to a scientific readership.
• Managing an on-going communications plan for the ML research blog, including identifying new promotion channels, boosting our readership base, tracking and analyzing response.
• Leveraging existing internal and external communications channels, as well as proactively identifying new opportunities and channels to communicate our machine learning research projects.
• Conceptualizing and creating existing internal and external communications channels, as well as proactively identifying new opportunities and channels to communicate our machine learning research projects.
• Identifying opportunities to promote our ML research projects and its relevance to the business context, including writing original articles and blog posts for an enterprise audience.
• Maintaining lists of our scientific publications and patents.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences
• Preferred fields of completed study: Bachelor's or Master's student with a focus on or interest in marketing, communications, journalism or a similar field
• Excellent English communication, writing, and editing skills, German would be a plus
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
• Ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
• Strong passion and dedication to develop compelling stories for innovation and technology topics 
• Interest in and basic understanding of Machine Learning would be a plus
• Soft skills: ability to prioritize and smoothly manage multiple tasks, strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team, results and quality driven, networking skills
• Experience in the area of communications or marketing preferred
• Familiarity with machine learning is an advantage
