PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
SAP Cloud Platform ABAP Environment is SAP’s new Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering of the ABAP Application Server. Since many years, the ABAP Application Server has been the foundation for SAP’s on-premise solutions. ABAP in SAP Cloud Platform is based on the latest ABAP Platform Cloud release which is also used for SAP S/4HANA Cloud. It leverages the multitenant database container technology of SAP HANA. The software stack contains standard technology components familiar from the standalone ABAP Application Server. It supports the new ABAP RESTful Programming Model including SAP Fiori and ABAP Core Data Services (ABAP CDS).

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
We’re looking for motivated and talented DevOps engineers and software developers who want to embark on an exciting journey with us to create, run and operate innovative, high quality core technology components with care and attention to detail.

• As a Junior DevOps engineer or software developer you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cutting-edge deployment and automation of cloud resources. The ideal candidate for the position is a technical generalist who tends toward solutions involving automation. Their skills range from software development to hardware configuration, network design and production automation.
• Additionally, as an integral part of the ABAP platform development team, you’ll be contributing to the advancement of core infrastructure, services and tools related to the technology stack.
• Developing software at SAP is more than just writing efficient code - it’s a team effort: starting at product definition and design, including coding, testing, quality assurance, and documenting the results and system operations.
• We follow agile software engineering methods and are always in close contact with our customers and stakeholders to acquire early feedback and we consume and contribute to Open Source.

Required skills

• A bachelor or master’s degree in computer science or related fields is a good starting point for your development career at SAP Core Platform.
• Ideally, you should have a technical interest, the ability to simplify complexity, and possess sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
• As part of an interdisciplinary and international team, we build on your communication skills as a team player and your fluency in English and German.
