Technical Assistant (BTA, MTA, CTA) (f/m/x) in Köln

• To contribute to the establishment of the laboratory, which will include purchasing and managing equipment and laboratory re­sources
• To perform technical assistance to lab members on various research projects using tissue culture, molecular biology, and biochemical routine techniques
• To perform elemental analysis of specimens using atomic emission spectrometry

• Successfully completed education as state-approved technical as­sistant (biological, chemical or medical TA) or lab technician with equivalent skills and experience as a technical assistant or Bachelor‘s degree (in a related field) with equivalent skills and experience as a technical assistant
• Proven experience of working in a laboratory and research environment
• Competence in accurately prepare media of different composition, solutions and reagents
• Expertise in tissue culture, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques
• Excellent organizational skills, which include maintenance of accurate and detailed records of experimental data and protocols
• High level of teamwork but also autonomy
• Good problem-solving skills and sense of responsibility
• Good command of German and English
• Availability to occasionally work out of hours to allow sample collection across the 24 h cycle

The Stangherlin lab is a newly established research group at CECAD research centre, in Cologne. Our group is interested in cellular circadian rhythms, pervasive biological oscillations that manifest themselves with a period of 24 hours. In particular, we are interested in understanding how ionic homeostasis changes during the day, at cellular and subcellular resolution, and how this is affected by the ageing process. Beside various cell biology and biochemical techniques, we capitalise on an emerging technology based on atomic emission spectrometry to analyse changes in ion abundance during the circadian cycle (ionomics)
