Working student at Student Refugee Initiative in München

We are an organization made up of local and international students, young professionals and refugees with a shared interest in academics and intercultural exchange. Our aim is to create a space of exchange on a fully equal level, highlighting individual knowledge, skills, and ideas rather than the membership to a particular social group. The format of our initiative has three parts: we organize weekly meetings consisting of discussion seminars and ”get-togethers“, we organize field trips and we coordinate a Peer Partner program between locals and new locals of similar academic orientations or interests. The fundamental idea is to enable cooperation on an equal level, instead of traditional helping encounters, and to also profit from the diverse perspectives and knowledge of others.

What are you going to do

We are looking for a new team member who will move the initiative forward with us.

Organizational tasks could include:

  • Organization of the weekly discussion seminars, such as reaching out to speakers and coaching them in their preparation
  • Press, social media or design work
  • Fundraising
  • Organization of social events, field trips and excursions, such as our study trip to Berlin
  • Recruitment of new students or refugees (going to events, lectures or distributing flyers)

What We Offer

  • flexible hours
  • fun and diverse team
  • be your own boss

What we ask:

  • Eingeschriebene/r Student/in im Bachelor an einer staatlich anerkannten Hochschule
  • independent work style
  • good work ethic

If you are interested in the position and can envision working in an interdisciplinary, international team and driving change, send us a short resume and a short description about your motivation (in English or German) by January 20, 2019. We are looking for someone who is open, flexible and above all motivated and enthusiastic about our initiative.

The only prerequisite is that you are matriculated at the LMU, as the contracts run through the university. The pay is based on the usual student assistant hourly rates of the LMU.

We look forward to getting to know you!
