The Position
- Develop and optimize two-color imaging methodologies for coherent diffraction imaging (CDI) experiments;
- Plan, prepare, and perform CDI experiments at the European XFEL;
- Analyze experimental CDI data and contribute to the development of reconstruction and analysis tools;
- Work at the interface of quantum physics, detector instrumentation, and computational methods;
- Collaborate across experimental, instrumental, and computational disciplines;
- Publish findings in leading scientific journals and present them at international conferences;
- Write a doctoral thesis.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in physics, applied physics, photonics, engineering, computer science, or a closely related field;
- Strong interest in ultrafast science, X-ray imaging, plasma dynamics, or nanoscale physics;
- Solid knowledge of experimental physics and data analysis;
- Experience with scientific programming, preferably in Python, C/C++, or a similar language;
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and international research environment;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
The following qualification would prove beneficial
- Experience with coherent diffraction imaging, FEL experiments, or synchrotron/X-ray methods;
- Familiarity with detector systems and scientific instrumentation;
- Experience in image reconstruction, inverse problems, or numerical simulations;
- Prior involvement in experimental campaigns or work at large-scale research facilities
