We are a senior federal authority responsible for vaccines and biomedicines that performs scientific research in the field of life sciences. The research group "Host-Pathogen Interactions" …

investigates how viruses interact with the innate immune system. We aim to discover and characterize novel factors at the interface of viral sensing and neurodevelopment or neurodegeneration (selected publications:

). To map molecular mechanisms, we combine CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing with proximity-labeling mass spectrometry to define the local protein environment of key host factors. In addition, we use induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based models to study cellular mechanisms relevant to disease.
