Was du machen wirst:

So that's university done and dusted. What next?

With our underwriting graduate programme, you'll get
immediate hands-on experience of the insurance world, doing real and useful work from the day you join us.

You'll receive excellent on-the-job training from our
highly respected and experienced insurance professionals, together with a development programme that includes training on creativity, leadership and TED-style speaking. You'll also get full financial support to study for professional qualifications, should you choose to do this.

Are you curious, eager to learn and try new things? Can you think on your feet and make quick, intelligent and commercial decisions? Can you combine strong analytical skills with an ability to build solid relationships? Do you have the courage to ask difficult questions and challenge the status quo? If you're answering yes to these questions, our graduate programme is for you.

On our underwriting graduate programme, you'll be able to combine your analytical ability with your people skills – a trader at heart, you'll love building relationships and negotiating a great deal.

You'll get in-depth experience and broad product knowledge
through insightful and challenging rotations across our business. Rotations are nine months long, and you could be working on anything from 'big ticket' risks such as hurricanes through to insurance for homeowners and small businesses.

You'll start the graduate scheme with us in the Broker Sales team in your base location in Germany, where you'll be given experience of the different types of risks we insure, how we price those risks and under what conditions. You'll also get exposure to our wider business through a rotation outside of underwriting, such as Operations or Claims. You'll also spend 9 months in London in one of our 'big ticket' businesses such as Hiscox London Market or Hiscox Re.

After gaining a broad understanding of our business during your time on the scheme, you'll join your sponsoring business unit in your base location in Germany as an Underwriter, where you'll develop specialist experience in your field.

What
qualifications do I need?

You'll have achieved (or be expecting to achieve) an excellent degree in insurance, finance, economics or law with a grade point average of 2.5 or above.

Any other
requirements?

You'll be happy to be mobile for the duration of the scheme
(27 months) and understand that being flexible on location after the scheme will help to accelerate your career and enable you to fulfil your potential.

You'll be able to speak and write fluently in business English and German, be numerate, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Fluency in a third language would be desirable.

The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in Germany.

You'll be able to join the scheme in September 2020. The graduate induction week will take place in the UK from Sunday 13th to Friday 18th September.
