PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
This position is best suited for candidates who are familiar with software development, open source and dependency/package management tools. 
Candidate with strong knowledge about dependency/package management, open source components and or software development skills will excel in this position. This position requires working collaboratively with a global team of compliance specialists, admins and our developers at SAP.
This position is part of the Global Technology Legal Compliance (GTLC) team, whose initiative is to ensure SAP technology and products comply with standards imposed by legal requirements such as trade regulations and software licensing laws. The candidate will assist on technical license compliance related topics, processes and procedure. Like evaluation of new dependency analysis tools, supporting developments teams consuming our tools and services and/or documentation. The candidate will gain hands on experience with our current and new tools for dependency/package analysis and management.
This candidate possesses a detail oriented, disciplined mindset with high analytical skills and knowledge/experience with package management tools like Maven, NPM and others. Ability to work with minimal supervision and self-motivation is an asset. Candidate should thrive for achieving the highest quality of work in a fast-paced environment. Relevant training will be provided for the candidate.

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
This is a hands-on position with exciting global exposure to an array of topics like Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), license compliance, export compliance, software security management, software release cycles, and production processes. Specifically, in support of our team and corporate transformations, the candidate will lead our effort to effectively evaluate new analysis tools, integration into automated processes, support transition to new tools and/or document/communicate the usage to development teams under the Technology Legal Compliance team’s governance. Explicit tasks include:

  • Evaluation and quality assurance of new tools for automated analysis of consumed dependencies (e.g. by package management tools like Maven, NPM, …) in SAP products.
  • Support development teams consuming our services.
  • Assist integration of new tools into our automated processes and documentation.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
You are a currently enrolled student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences:

  • Studying preferably in the fields:  Bachelor or Master student in Computer Science
  • Having the following computer skills:  A solid understanding of computer science, software programming (Java/JavaScript) and package management (like Maven, NPM) is highly recommended.
  • Speaking: English fluently, German as a plus     
  • Besides that, you are/ you bring: Interactive. Good at engaging with people. Favor of automation. Analysis.
