The University of Cologne offers a wide range of scientific disciplines and internationally leading profile areas organized in six faculties. The Institute of Radiochemistry and Experimental Molecular Imaging (IREMB) is seeking candidates for the following part-time position (19,25 h/week). 

Research Assistant in biology

The position will have a fixed-term contract until 31.12.2020 with the possibility of extension.

The Institute of Radiochemistry and Experimental Molecular Imaging (IREMB) at the University Clinic of Cologne consists of a highly motivated interdisciplinary team of experts in radiochemistry and molecular imaging working together on the development of novel radiotracers for clinical applications based on emerging strategies for radiolabeling. In addition, the institute houses a microbiological laboratory and a small animal imaging facility to evaluate the novel radioligands in different model systems. We offer cutting-edge equipment in conjunction with an international, highly interactive environment. Due to close collaborations with the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine at the Forschungszentrum Jülich and the Department of Chemistry at the University of Cologne our institute provides the ideal basis for scientific networking and professional exchange.

We invite applicants interested in in vitro and in vivo evaluation of novel probes for positron emission tomography (PET) to contribute in the exciting research area of brain function and diagnostics of neurological and oncological disorders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Cultivation of tumor cell lines
  • In vitro and in vivo evaluation of radiotracers
  • PET image reconstruction and analysis
  • Immmunostaining
  • Contribute to conceptual planning and monitoring of project progress
  • Contribute to the smooth operation and maintenance of lab infrastructure and equipment
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Candidates should hold a Diploma or Master’s Degree in biology or an equivalent course of studies
  • Knowledges in neurobiology and oncology
  • Skills and initial practical experience in cell culture and animal handling
  • High ability to work independently
  • High ability to work in a team

Your salary will be based on TV-L.
