ABOUT THE TEAM
The Technology & Innovation (T&I) board area manages SAP´s overall platform, technology and innovation strategy.
T&I drives the incubation of new ventures (SAP.iO), the development of innovative solutions, and the engineering of intelligent technologies (ML, AI, IoT, etc.) to build a fully integrated, extensible foundation for all SAP applications – the SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP). 

The New Ventures & Technologies (NVT) unit within the T&I board area has the mission to pursue transformative growth by exploring new markets and new-to-world solutions. Technology innovation and product incubation build the core business.

The Berlin Operations and Business Insights team is part of the NVT unit and is responsible for operational, analytical, and project management tasks for SAP Labs Berlin and its Chief Operating Officer (COO). The team also functions as cross-departmental and cross-board support to enable internal and external collaboration-projects and establish business processes by turning creative thinking into innovative solutions pursuing an end-to-end responsibility approach for all projects in record time.

THE ROLE
The SAP Berlin Operations & Business Insights team supports the COO of SAP Labs Berlin with day-to-day operations and the management and execution of high-profile strategic projects.
You will be part of the analytics division, which thrives in deconstructing and re-creating business processes to meet changing strategic and operational needs. Thereby we enable colleagues to make data-driven decisions and drive operational excellence. You will support us by combining an analytical mindset and thought leadership to drive the digitization of our business operations.

During your internship you will design, implement and maintain data-driven processes. This involves requirements gathering to identify relevant data sources and integrating those sources into our data warehouse by setting up ETL pipelines. Finally, you will model the data and create meaningful visualizations to support critical business decisions. You might also explore Machine Learning use cases.

Furthermore, as part of the T&I New Ventures & Technologies organization, you will have the opportunity to participate in strategic projects and present your proposals and demonstrate their impact to key stakeholders within our organization.

Your core tasks include but are not limited to: 

• Designing and implementing data-driven decision-making processes
• Communicating effectively to identify stakeholders needs and translating them into appropriate requirements. 
• Building ETL pipelines to integrate data from various sources.
• Modelling and analyzing data to extract important business insights and give recommendations to strategic stakeholders.
• Working with business analysts and project consultants on strategic projects to improve business processes within our team.
• Optional: Exploring machine learning use cases

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

• Student (f/m/d) at a university or a university of applied sciences    
• Preferred fields of study: Data Science, Business Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Operations Research or similar
• Experience with decomposing and solving real world business problems with analytical rigor
• Ability to learn new tools rapidly and independently
• Proficiency in Python or R 
• Practical experience in ETL development
• Knowledge in SQL, data structures, data modeling, or data warehousing 
• Experience with or willingness to learn Business intelligence tools like SAP Analytics Cloud, Tableau or Power BI
• Experience in developing and deploying machine learning models is a plus.
• Language skills: English proficiency required; German is a plus
• 6 months full-time availability is mandatory
• Start date: as soon as possible / latest October 2021
