About the team ABAP Platform

SAP ABAP Platform drives innovation from the heart of SAP. ABAP Platform consists of more than 600 people located around the globe. We are SAP’s technical foundation and proud that our innovations are used by over 12 million people in 120 countries.

Our customer, partners and application developers expect highly efficient and performant programming languages and tools to translate their requirements into code. We are responsible for developing, supporting and evolving the programming languages of the ABAP Server. We provide the respective compilers and virtual machines up to higher level application services and tools.

We are currently looking for computer scientists and software engineers who are passionate about enhancing and modernizing complex software systems that run in the cloud, on premise, or both.

You will have the opportunity to work in small and diverse agile development teams and collaborate closely with database, operating system, server, middleware, and tools experts.

The Role

We’re looking for motivated and talented (junior) developers (f/m/d) who want to embark on an exciting journey with us to create innovative, high quality core technology components with care and attention to detail.
Developing software at SAP is more than just writing efficient code in ABAP and C++, it’s a team effort: starting at product definition and design, including coding, testing, quality assurance, and documenting the results. We follow agile software engineering methods and are always in close contact with our customers and stakeholders to acquire early feedback. We consume and contribute to Open Source.

Role Requirements

Above all you should have an open mind. You should be passionate about clean C++ code and eager to bring in new ideas into our agile development teams. We expect you want to learn a lot of new and cool stuff - new technologies, methodologies, and ways to think out-of-the-box.
During your first 12 months, we offer training courses geared to your individual knowledge and experience, a buddy program, and regular knowledge exchanges with other rookies and seasoned colleagues.

Importantly, we don’t just expect you to learn from us – we want you to share your fresh insights actively with us as well.

You have

• a degree in computer science, mathematics, natural science, engineering or like
• the ability to understand complex technical concepts and solve problems
• good knowledge of C/C++ programming language
• a good understanding of compiler technology and/or virtual machines is a plus
• the attitude of a team player
• fluency in German and English
