PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
SAP Cloud Platform (SAP CP) is a platform-as-a-service offering built to provide unique capabilities to develop and streamline applications for public and industry clouds, as well as the extension and integration platform for the Intelligent Enterprise Suite. Built on open source technologies, running on a variety of infrastructures and powered by SAP HANA and SAP ASE, the applications developed by customers, partners and SAP can leverage a variety of re-usable services. 

The SAP CP Persistence Service is one of the core services in SAP Cloud Platform Core, providing the complete database lifecycle (automated provisioning, database administration, backup & recovery handling, high availability & disaster recovery, testing new database versions,...) for SAP HANA and SAP ASE. As an SAP CP core service, the SAP CP Persistence Service is used to manage most of the internal as well as customer facing databases. To keep the vast number of databases up and running at low cost, the SAP CP Persistence Service team needs to constantly improve database lifecycle management operations, offer tools to migrate and transform databases, collaborate with the database engineering teams, and advise the stakeholders as well as customers with respect to optimal database usage.  
 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
As Junior developer in the SAP Cloud Platform Persistence Service teams you will design, develop, automate and operate thoroughly crafted, resilient, well-tested database lifecycle management solutions built on latest open source and SAP technologies.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Required skills

• Excellent university degree (master, diploma, PhD) in computer science or related engineering discipline.
• Good Java programming skills; additional knowledge in another programming language like Python or Go is an advantage.
• Good database knowledge.
• Not afraid of working on operational topics.
• Confidence working within Unix / Linux shell environments and operating system internals and administration.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
• Fluency in English (written and spoken).

Preferred skills

• Hands-on experience in database management systems and cloud computing.
• Hands-on experience with agile software engineering, XP, CI/CD and DevOps best practices.
• Experience in working with leading Cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, GCP, SAP CP.
• Infrastructure knowledge, networking, server, storage, virtualization.

WORK EXPERIENCE

0-3 years of experience in software development in related domain and/or cloud development. Graduates are welcome!
