About the team

SAP Cloud Platform is our Platform-as-a-Service offering allowing to manage and develop data-intensive cloud applications. As such it supports the flexible interconnection of business processes, devices and machines as micro-services being a significant growth opportunity for SAP as market leader of enterprise software. Within our development team we research, develop, and operate services to observe and analyze applications along multiple dimensions, including performance, availability, and robustness. A major starting point is the processing and analysis of application logs and other metrics and events, which constitute a huge and highly relevant data stream. Being a core feature of the platform, our solutions have tomust meet highest cloud quality standards by themselves, process huge amounts of data in a scalable way and derive useful insights from them.

The Role

As a developer and member of our SAP Cloud Platform organization you will develop and operate observability services which follow cloud-native paradigms. Exposure to newest technologies and open-source projects will be your daily life.

Specifically, you will:

• Develop robust and understandable software, i.e. observability services to support logging, monitoring, tracing, and availability and their integrated analysis.
• Evolve and operate the software along the DevOps principle.
• Review, integrate, extend cloud-native, open-source technologies, such as Kafka, Prometheus and Elasticsearch.
• Work in an agile team to which you contribute as active team player and proactive networker.

 
Role Requirements
What is essential for the role?

• In the first place? An open mind!
• A good bachelor or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline.
• At least one proficiency in state-of-the-art programming languages and concepts, such as Java, node.js, Go, C/C#.
• Confidence working within Linux environments and experience with distributed systems and concepts of resilience.
• Experience with state-of-the-art software engineering methodologies, e.g. test-driven-development, continuous integration, Git and/or Jenkins.
• Fluency in German and English – written and verbal.

Work Experience

Graduates are welcome! Up to 2 years of work experience in a respective software development area.
